I would agree that the leaks are gaining pace and a non-split is inevitable. Common sense prevails as well it should.

Sky don't appear happy though

They have called for a full-blown competition inquiry.

A few of us have said all along that this is really a battle between Sky & BT
We still dont know yet what if any improvements or restrictions BT may have to make.  If it is a financial split then that could be problematic in itself.
No point in much more speculation until Thursday.. or until we know what Ofcom has ruled.

TBH I dont know what OFCOM has decided, but I wouldnt think that BT are too happy either, as I think there will be more to come...  some of which could impact on the way Openreach operate, so the battle is far from over.

Anyways Im done speculating.

You leave the news alone for a weekend, and what happens? All hell breaks loose! There's too much to read, never mind write. And I'm not talking about Boris and the EU.

Split, or no split, I'm still watching for Ofcom to make this business worth investing in for the future. Both the big, interested companies and the small interested companies. Sky continue to avoid using the opportunity to commit investment, and TT have gone strangely quiet.

BT has offered to spend more on improving Britain’s broadband in a bid to satisfy regulators that it should not be stripped of its network division, Openreach.

The former state monopoly has suggested to Ofcom that it could spend more than the £1bn it has already pledged to upgrade its infrastructure.

The offer was revealed by chief executive Gavin Patterson just days before the regulator is due to publish the findings of its once-a-decade review of the telecoms industry.
