BT’s Chief Architect and MD of their Global IT Platform, Howard Watson, has today been announced as the man that will take over from Clive Selley as the CEO of their Technology, Service and Operations (TSO) division. Selley has of course recently been promoted to the tricky role of CEO at Openreach.

Howard Watson appointed CEO Technology, Service & Operations

I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Howard Watson as CEO Technology, Service & Operations (TSO) and Group CIO.
Howard, who is currently BT chief architect and MD Global IT Platforms, possesses a broad knowledge of technical and operational leadership, with expertise in strategic development, business transformation and post-merger integration. He joined BT in 2011 from Cartesian a Telecoms software and consultancy company where he was managing director. Prior to that he was chief of transformation and technology for Virgin Media and chief technology and information officer at Telewest PLC.

Howard’s expertise in the telecoms industry and in innovating and delivering transformational products, will help TSO with the next stage of its journey.

The handover between Howard and Clive Selley will take place this quarter and Howard’s successor in TSO will be announced in due course.
Please join me in congratulating Howard and in wishing him continued success.

Gavin

I like that they are appointing people who have roots in the Telco industry.

I don't like the idiom of calling several people "CEO". Surely there's only one CEO, otherwise you would have several people who are all Chiefs, yet who is in fact the chief of all these chiefs?

They should just be called Executives.

I think the more significant point from the announcement is that Clive Selley is to head up Openreach

However, we had already had that news from Black Sheep, on the 11th January . . .
