Max attainable rate
« on: November 09, 2015, 09:03:34 PM »

Hi

My first post . I wonder if anyone could help me decipher if my 80/20 connection can sync higher on the downstream side.

I have just upgraded to Sky  fibre pro from Sky's 40/10 unlimited fibre.

I normally use a billion 8800 nl rather than the Sr102. Though at the present time I have hooked the hg612 back up connected to the SR102 hub

When on 40/10 the max obtainable rate was always reported in the region of 88-89 down 23 up.

This was still reported two days before my switch to the 80/20 product.

I thought that when the line was ran on 80/20 I would sync at 80mb . Yet as the stats below show my downstream sync is 67469 and the attainable rate is no where near what it was whilst on 40/10

The cabinet I connect to is around 120 metres away.

Is this the type of d/l sync the best I can expect .

My cabinet is an eci so no g.inp on the line.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Justin

Do you have all the stats from when you were on 40/10 for comparison?

There's not much to go on. I see the attenuation is unchanged and a quick look at MyDslWebStats indicates that your sync speed isn't unreasonable for that attenuation.

Perhaps DLM will let you have a bit more in the future.

I would run the https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ and see what results you get from that.

Welcome to the Kitz forum, Justin:)

I've had a thought . . . Is Sky the CP/ISP who starts "low" and gradually increases synchronisation speed as the circuit proves itself capable of more?  :-\

If so, then all you need to do is be patient and keep watch.

Sky don't control the sync speed on FTTC, DLM does.

That's what comes from thinking in a muddle of xDSL circuits . . .

Now where's my brown paper bag?  :paperbag:
