Un-Brick HooToo Nano??
« on: March 31, 2015, 07:58:26 PM »

Hi All, I have a couple of HooToo nano travel routers that I installed OpenWrt on, only to find that they did not support the USB port for NAS-like operation.

Soooo, using the suggested tools, I tried to reinstate the original firmware (saved before OpenWrt) so I could try dd-wrt on them. But -- The OpenWrt approach to restoring the original bricked it on the spot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as I thought I may have ooopsed when doing it so I bought another one and installed OW and then tried to recover on the second one. Two bricks. :)

I am not worried about this bricking, as they were under 20-bucks a piece and I was just messing with them and Open Source software for setting up a NAS. My current Belkin has a USB and that is functioning just fine with dd-wrt and Samba. I just see these things sitting there and can't bring myself to throw them out.

Thoughts? Oh, the OpenWrt forums have been ZERO help on this.

Thanks
