BS.  Would in not show up any bad joints, or how many joints there are? It's only the cost of postage, so not a great cost.

This? http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/

Thanks, just tried that and  that seems to come up incorrect as well. I think what's happening is if it can't accurately find the location it's defaulting to the central location for the postcode,  when typing the address directly into Google maps a lot of them default to the postcode location.

Was that for all 3 options, Bing, Mapquest, Google?

Ah I see, I thought you were just after 'Distance to cab' ????

Hmmm, yes the 'Mole' will show HR/SC faults ............ however it will also show poundage changes as well. It's a combination of experience reading TDR screens, and access to the network records showing where joints are, that determine success or not. A little trick is to ring the landline number when the 'Mole' is connected, and any noticeable peaks/troughs that start to fluctuate along the circuits length, could be a possible HR ???

If you're happy to part with the cash, go for it.  :)

@Dray Bing gave no result and the other two were the same.

@BS It's only £4 postage and I'll add a bit more on as a donation to MDWS. Thanks for tip on ringing the land line.  I'll update the thread with plenty of pictures when it arrives next week.

Don't know if anyone had mentioned crosstalk on your line but when i look at the D1 line attenuation and compare that to the signal attenuation you will notice a difference of 5.3dB is that not a sign of crosstalk  :-\

No idea NS, but it's my upload that seems to have suffered, my download seems to have moved up and down through out the three years, but stayed around the same level, whilst my upload has steadily dropped.

Your U2 band in the Hlog graph is cutting off before it reaches tone 2770 so this could effect your upload sync.

ronski order an engineer and get the engineer to show you the jdsu when he runs his tests (it shows estimated line length).

the 450m simply doesnt make any sense to me.  Your stats are not even close.

I've carried out some test with a BT 301C tester I was kindly loaned.

I've taken various photographs and posted the pictures here.

The meter leads are 1 meter long, and plugged into the test socket. I have approximately 4 meters of CAT5 from the master socket to the location of the original master socket, where the CAT5 is jelly crimped to the in coming pair.

I also took the liberty of connecting the meter to the other pair in the original master socket location, which gives a very similar trace, these pictures can be seen by clicking the sub album link

On both lines the section after the last peak appeared to fluctuate up and down a little bit. I tried phoning the land line and it didn't seem to make any difference, perhaps the fluctuations increased in frequency a bit.

Hmm i don't know what to say Ron but that BT 301C is only showing the internal loop and not the external loop to the PCP cabinet

I carried out another test, this time adjusting the balance.

I can't see anything on the trace after 80 meters.

Photo's are here.
