That might be one for Ronski to look into as he coded the GUI.

However, from a quick google, it suggests that a file couldn't be found.

I think the GUI tries to read data from modem_stats.log and xlogfile.txt, both of which should be located in the Modem_Log folder specified in the HG612_stats.ini file & often the default locations as shown in the attachment.

These are the default locations in the ini file as downloaded :-

[Locations]
Main_folder=                             C:\HG612_Modem_Stats
Scripts_and_Programs=                    C:\HG612_Modem_Stats\Scripts
Apps_folder=                             C:\HG612_Modem_Stats\Apps
Current_Stats_folder=                    C:\HG612_Modem_Stats\Current_Stats
Ongoing_Stats_folder=                    C:\HG612_Modem_Stats\Ongoing_Stats
Modem_Log=                               C:\HG612_Modem_Stats\Ongoing_Stats

If the locations as shown in the GUI, assuming you can get that far, are shown in yellow, it would suggest that they are the 'wrong' locations and/or that those folders don't actually exist.

The default locations can be changed via the 'Browse' button in the GUI or by manually editing the ini file, but they do need to be folders that actually exist.

Hmm, don’t think this is going to fly!  :(

I did manage to get the GUI program to run by installing “Mono” into the bottle. I think this is something to do with the .NET framework? However once the GUI program started I was prompted to install updates which did go through the update process, but then prompted again. Cancelling that I could set up the modem, but no stats were forthcoming. I had to manually run HG612_stats.exe to populate/update the Stats tabs. So not quite there, but close!  :-\

The scheduled task that runs every minute should run HG612_Run.exe .
This program then runs HG612_stats.exe in the background (hidden).

Some Windows versions seem to need to 'allow' some programs to run.

If you try running HG612_Run.exe manually, you might be asked if you wish to always allow it or offered the option to not ask again.

If that's the case, allow it or select don't ask again.
Doing that might kick start the logging.

If not, check in Task Manager to see if either of the 2 programs mentioned above appear to be stuck.
You should only see either of them for a second or two, every minute.

If one of them is 'stuck', end its process & that might kick start the logging.

Thanks for the input BE. I noted the requirement for .NET for the GUI in the setup instructions so installed this in place of Mono. This gave an improvement whereby I am no longer prompted to run the program updates and the information fields are now populated. However, still no stats. I ran HG612_Run.exe manually as you suggested, but this caused an unhandled page fault in Wine. So perhaps there is some dependancy in that executable that can’t be handled in Wine.

Try editing the task via task scheduler so that it directly runs HG612 Stats.exe and see what happens.

No inbuilt task scheduler unfortunately, but a search reveals there are alternatives. Running HG612 Stats.exe manually repeatedly does update the files in Ongoing_Stats, but the GUI is not updated until it is restarted. I guess this is pretty niche so probably best not to waste anymore time & effort on it.  :no:

You could always get a Raspberry PI and run DLStats on that, pretty cheap and use very little power.

That's the setup I have actually. The foregoing was just an experiment on my part for "scientific interest" as a previous poster was looking for a way to run stats collection on their Mac :)

For the record both programs run fine under Parallels Desktop on the Mac, but this requires a proper full copy of Windows which runs in a virtual machine. Many thanks though for your input (and Bald_Eagle1 too).

Getting there :)    Banding is usually removed before any interleaving, so there may still be hope :fingers:
