HG612 which interface for traffic
« on: March 11, 2015, 10:53:29 AM »

I am running my HG612 in bridge more and obviously the traffic interface I have selected is not the correct one to measure as I have just downloaded over 1gb of data but todays traffic shows about 330mb. So which interface should I be monitoring?

I'm monitoring ptm1, which seems to fit the facts in my case.

Eric I just monitored a 609Mb download and none of my interfaces shown seem to correlate with what I just downloaded!

That was the problem I had when I added the traffic monitoring utility to DSLstats. There was far too much inconsistency to be certain about anything.

I have a suggestion . . .

Make an appropriate telnet connection to the HG612, login, obtain the busybox shell and then invoke ifconfig -a. Consideration of the output produced may indicate the correct interface to specify to DSLstats, etc.  :-\

Well the ifconfig command is the same as shown by DSLStats. I have been playing around again and now it does seem that the PTM1 interface seems this morning to be showing something close to a reasonable value for download data so I will stick with that and see how it goes.

On ADSL my daughters laptop sent 3.44G data to our 'Backup Server' and I did a bit of streaming, DSLstats shows just over 4G  yesterday, so it's about correct   ;)
