I downloaded unlocked firmware from asbokid at https://huaweihg612hacking.wordpress.com/about/ and unlocked my HG 612.

I started to look around, and as my router is at 192.168.1.1 I changed the HG 612 to 192,168.1.148.

Then I turned off QoS and the firewall and all was well.

I experimented further and enabled LAN 2, and found I could plug in my router to access the internet through either Lan 1 or Lan 2.

Interesting, but I could no longer access the GUI.

I tried reloading the unlocked firmware, but although I could access 192.168.1.1 during the upload, once the HG 612 re-booted, I could not access the page at 192.168.1.1, nor the page at 192.168.1.148.

Then I reloaded the original (locked) firmware, followed by the unlocked firmware, but to no effect.

The HG 612 works fine, but I'm locked out of the GUI.

Any suggestions?

I'm reluctant to muck about too much further in case I brick the HG 612.

I suggest that you do a long reset - with the HG612 running, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
By reconfiguring LAN2 you lost access to the GUI.

Yes, as that is the latest firmware image.

The long reset followed by a power off/on brought it back to the default unlocked settings.
