The watch was a pivotal moment for me too.
Better half knew I'd been eyeing them up but even so, to soften the surprise, I thought I'd buy her a small gift as a token gesture on the way home. She'd been wanting a plant sprayer, and I spotted one and bought it.
She seemed happy enough initially, then through gritted teeth...
"You got an Apple Watch, I got a plastic bottle".
.
Then again she does indeed ( thank goodness) control the purse strings.
