So I gave the modem a while off and restarted 8 hours or so ago.

Errors attached - not great at all.

I think I'll just wait and see if it settles down.

word of warning the longer you wait the harder it be to get it fixed.

I don't think upto 14 days is a long time to wait to see if the Interleaving Depth starts to reduce or Fastpath becomes available, the only way for this to happen is if the SNR stays above the target margin of 6.0dB for many days and the only way to fix this is by decreasing the sync rate or find out if there is noise on the line by using there SP (service provider) to book an openreach appointment, can I ask how you would go about getting the SNRM above 6.0dB 24/7 ?

why do you think it will reduce when he is generating millions of FEC errors?

Current average errors :

Per day

CRC   Up   1.45
   Down   293

FEC   Up   43.4
   Down   2453357

HEC   Up 0
   Down   2503

ES   Up 1.45
   Down 12.0

I wonder if this issue is partly due to me using the HG612 on an ECI cab....

Whilst I do think this needs a engineer to find the underlying cause of line errors, the next best thing I do agree with newtron that dont turn off or disconnect the modem, but if DLM does relent I only feel it will go back to interleaving again after.

I wonder if this issue is partly due to me using the HG612 on an ECI cab....

It is a possibility, my raw speed tests are much better using an ECI on my ECI cab as opposed to the HG612.  I really must get around to unlocking the ECI so I can compare stats.

In the meantime, these are my error stats over a 28 day period (but then I have a bad line anyway  :( )

I swapped to a new, non-hacked ECI modem last night after leaving my HG612 unplugged for 2 hours.

No idea what speed I'm now connected at (Speedtests vary - it's so hard to find a reliable one?) but my ping is already 1/2ms lower. Throughput appears to be slightly lower on most speedtest sites (but the same on others, annoyingly).

Now just a waiting game to see if DLM kicks in and sorts out the interleaving or whether it is an actual line fault.

So frustrating not knowing even basics though, like connection speed.....

Dave DLM will not be generating the errors on your line, so I can already tell you DLM isnt to blame for that.

I can understand you dont want to get an engineer as they a pain in the backside to deal with but it seems clear the interleaving is bugging you so that is probably the only way you have a chance of getting it resolved.

My point is, is that the HG612 was causing the errors on the line (as I have an ECI cabinet) and that by reverting to an ECI modem the errors might reduce drastically, and my connection may therefore improve?

I dont think the hg612 is the sole cause of millions of FEC no.

But try it and see, if you do try it keep in place for 2 weeks, stop chopping and changing.

The ECI modem resync'd extremely briefly at 0600hrs this morning. Speed and pings both back to what they were pre-interleaving. So now I'm back on fastpath.

Let's see how long it lasts :)

It should last for good while just keep all hardware as is and avoid turning off modem or power cut's just keep the modem on 24/7 .

if it does last its the first time i have heard of a hg causing that many errors, I now think possibly your hg modem is faulty.

Further update to this issue. Still on fastpath. Modem resync yesterday and now got back the speed I initially lost.

So, back on fast path now and back at 80/20.
