but it could possibly be the case that there's some other process which can enable remote upgrading.

In that case you my need to click on Deactive on the HG612 BT Agent GUI and then save settings then run the killall -KILL start btagent command and sorry thats all I can think of to solve your BT Agent issue  :(

I wonder if the firmware update occurs via the 301 tagged VLAN ?  :-\

If that is the case, then deleting the VLAN would put an end to the process and Beattie's remote monitoring of the service performance.

Just my two pennies worth.

I could be mistaken, but as the HG612 is normally used in bridged mode, I don't think it has a WAN IP address assigned to it via the 101 VLAN.  The WAN IP address is only presented to the connected router. Logic would suggest it is therefore impossible for BT to manage the HG612 in this situation.

Therefore to be able to manage the HG612 when it is in bridge mode, a separate 301 VLAN was included, labelled 'TR069_INTERNET' .  It has its own IP address. and so I guess this must be how BT is able to push firmware updates to the HG612.

With regards to the BT Agent, what is 'TPS' ?

I defo killed the BTagent with killall and via the GUI, but the buggers still manged to update it. So I'm thinking they are using some other method to update it.

I had to reboot my unlocked HG612 this morning after it had kept the same line sync for past 103 days. (BT Agent was killed)

The BT Agent (whatever it does) is now listed in the processes after booting up, but I've decided not to manually kill it.

The 301 VLAN used for TR_069 was deleted when I originally unlocked it last summer.

If I'm right, I suspect BT cannot manage and update the firmware on my HG612 due to the missing VLAN while the modem is operated in normal bridge mode.
