New-type Cab-shells
« on: April 14, 2014, 09:37:58 AM »

When VDSL capacity reaches saturation, this may be what you see by way of 'relief'. Can only be fitted no the newer type existing shells, not the original cast-iron types.

Ooh, that's interesting.  :)

Do you have any photographs of the internal arrangements, please?

I'll have a look-see, sir. Will have to be later on I'm afraid.  :)

I'll be honest, I envisage it will just be Krone/Quante termination strips ?? The new 'Relief' tails from the Fibre Cab will obviously end up in there, but can't think what other stuff would be warranted ??

Thank you. Any time that is convenient, please.

Indeed, it is my suspicion that the fibre cabinet tie-cables will appear in the new add-on but I am curious as to their arrangement so as to be connected to the existing D- & E-side cables. (Otherwise Walter will be making exploratory trips to London, to examine an example of that form of expanded PCP.)

Looking at the photo, I would suggest that the two connecting tubes (between Cabs) will carry the 'Jumper wire' used to cross-connect from the original E and D-sides, to the new VDSL ports ??  :)

Yes, that would be logical.  :)

Can only source one other photo, B*Cat.

The official name for this type of addition is called a 'Stand-off Cab'.

Thank you. That more or less confirms the speculation of the set-up.  :)
