I have one, and I found its performance very poor. Also, monitoring the statistics is problematic, because you have to run a special Netgear program to enable the telnet interface, and this seems to be unreliable.
It's difficult to recommend a 'best' modem/router, because performance varies so much on different lines. But my personal favourite (by a long distance) is the Billion 7800DXL. This is an expensive model, but I find it to be very fast and very stable, and it has more features than any other model which I've seen. It has a modern Broadcom DSL chip, and comprehensive monitoring by the telnet interface is available.
All this is of course only my personal opinion.
