Not 100% sure but that page looks like it may be from when the router was being trialled (TT Labs), so may not apply now...

Ah yes, I hadn't seen the section that it was placed in.  It'd be ncie to know which of those issues, if any, have been addressed.

I've just tried playing with the samba server feature.

Plugged a 32gb USB flash drive into the 533, accessed it without any problem by typing \\192.168.1.1 in explorer.

To test it, I thought I'd copy a large (10gb) .MKV file to it.  The copy started chugging away at 4Mb/s, ran for a reasonable time then windows gave an error and it stopped.  Couldn't resume it, though I could start a new copy and still access the drive on another computer.

All the connections are wired, so it's not a wireless dropout thing.

Hmm  >:(

USB sockets on routers aren't generally a good idea. The USB interface demands quite a lot of CPU power, and the CPUs in domestic routers aren't very powerful. Personally I wouldn't use the USB socket.

I'm using the HG533's USB port to power a Raspberry Pi which acts as a CCTV server running Zoneminder.  :police:
