Something else than confuses me: sometimes if I have a low sync event, the IP profile isn't changed, but sometimes it is. Any ideas?

Hi,

Try changing ur MTU value to get the Bras unstuck, depending on what the mtu value already is id say go lower to the nearest number thats divisible by 8.

MTU has nothing to do with the IP profile so changing it will not do anything.

it would be interesting if you could somehow get a sync in the 600-700 region..

I would give it a go but I'm worried about what the rest of my family would say if I reduced the throughput by half again, its already a dire situation :D

I'm guessing its the amount of time the DLM takes to react to the sync event, if the event doesn't last long and goes back to your usual sync rate the DLM wont re-profile the line.

Its always been set at the default value of 1432 which is divisible by 8.

Yea the value doesnt matter just an attempt to get the Bras to reset is all i was thinking.

MTU can affect throughput, but changing it won't affect the state of the connection, so it won't unstick the IP/bRAS profile.

Just spoke to my ISP, they're going to log a profile fault with BTw this afternoon (not sure why they cant just do it now). They said it should take a few hours once the fault is reported so hopefully should get fixed by the end of the day.

Interestingly the 10 day training period for the SNR reset was actually 9 (or less than if you count the time of day it was started and ended), no idea why.

I am so so sorry...  and am damn glad you didnt try it  !!!
That figure actually was supposed to be 6000-7000 ie 6-7Mbps  :-[  I think I hinted in the post that I was struggling, thinking I had a bad head... but I went off line straight after only to find out it was some sort of bug  making me feel really rotten - hence not being about until now.

/makes mental note to self - dont do hurried posts whilst feeling like carp and not checking for typos.

Ahh that would have made more sense, I also wondered if by somehow syncing below 8128 (to get away from that extreme sync speed) would have made a difference.
Guess we'll never know now as my sticky profile woes have been fixed!

 ;D   ;D

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.

Edit:

Grade D?! Slower than 71% of the country?? I didn't know broadband speeds had moved on so much for the majority of the population!  ???

I was just thinking that...  This line is apparently very middle of the road..

The stats are probably skewed by all the fibre speed junkies, wanting to show off how fast they're going. Whereas the tortoises, like us, would rather not know!

cheers, a
