Should I give B-i-L's Netgear N150 a spin?
« on: March 04, 2012, 03:06:25 PM »

B-i-L has changed Netgear N150 router because its range is not sufficient for their much extended '20s house, and the work he and my daughter need do for their employers.

I have the PN supplied Thomson 585 v7, so am thinking  whether to check out his redundant box.
Would it have anything in particular to offer me, or would it be a waste of time?

N150 covers a range of models, including access points and plain (no modem) routers. What is the actual model number?

Not sure, but think DGN1000.

I doubt if that will be any better than your Thomson 585v7 unfortunately. There's no way to be certain other than trying it, but it's a budget model which has fairly average performance.

No, the DGN1000 has no tweaking possibilities. The only thing I can personally say in its favour is that Netgear routers have a far more user-friendly web interface than Thomson routers.

Thank you very much. :)
If one were upgrading to another, not Draytek costing machine, what would be first ones to consider?

I would always give consideration to a 2Wire device . . . but (with a nod to Mandy Rice-Davies) I would say that, wouldn't I?  ;)
