To adapt existing surge protected power lead or not

(1/2) > >>

I have a two gang wall socket, one powering my DECT phone extension and the other a Belkin 6 way surge protected extension, which is fully occupied. I now need one of the wall sockets for a homeplug.

I could go two ways on this; buy a new 8 way extension or plug a two way adaptor in to one of the extension's sockets. Tightness transmitted by one our members suggests the latter, wariness the former.

BTW the existing Belkin is over 10 years old.

Thoughts?

Add another socket? Much better than trailing leads etc.

:)

One very neat way to expand a socket is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gang-Mains-Socket-Converter/dp/B001PPOTR4

and there are some cheaper ones here: http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/220696006249?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

HPsauce:
I use both of those types as appropriate.  :graduate:

Generally if there are permanently-plugged "appliances" I use the fixed type.
Where it's low-power occasional use things (phone chargers for example) then it's the plug-in ones.
Get the right sort and they're really quite neat.

@ AdrianH. :no: Not the most accessible spot to get to and with my electrical skill either expensive or dangerskew!

@roseway
Won't plugging anything, especially a Homeplug that does not recommend extension leads, in to a socket converter have same effect as using a trailing lead multigang power strip?
