Scart Splitters

Been looking at new TVs, the ones I have seen have only one scart socket.   Problem is I have Sky TV, one Scart lead, DVD Player, one Scart lead and WII, one Scart lead.   How do the scart splitters work, if I bought a three way how do they work?, will I be able to just switch on whichever appliance without any thing else to do?

There are many different types to chose from and all come at various prices depending on what you go for.

TBH, the only type I have ever used was the cheapest basic type which worked without any problems.

There are automatic sensing types.
Remote control operated types.
Manual push-button types.

Thanks for that, I found cheaper ones at Play.com.   But do I need one with switches or would they work without switches with no problems?

They will work without switches, but if more than piece of equipment is turned on at the same time whichever one has the strongest signal is the item that will be recognised, so basically you only turn on the item you want to use.

The advantage of scart adaptors with switches is that you can by selecting a combination of the appropriate buttons connect two items together, for arguments sake a freeview box and a DVR/VCR recorder so that you can record from one to the other.
