Ultrasharp monitor for photo editing
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:55:00 AM »

This is an excellent monitor for someone who wants a much better than average performance without having to pay a King's ransom. I've just bought one, and checking its performance on this test site I found that it was almost perfectly set up by default. The colours are rich, and the wide viewing angle makes a big difference when looking closely at the details of an image.

Aria's service is good too. I ordered it on Sunday, it was dispatched at 9:40 am Monday, and arrived at my door at 9:00 am Tuesday. :)

That looks nice.  :)

Do you connect via a DVI-D or a VGA input ?
I have only VGA and wonder if that would reduce the quality of the display.

I use the DVI connector, which most probably delivers a sharper image than VGA. But the characteristics which are important for photo editing - colour gamut, gamma, contrast, and so on, will be the same as far as I know.

Eric, the b*cat is jealous! He doesn't have a spare £220 . . . :(

Quote
- 1 Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP
- DisplayPort (DP)
- Video Graphics Array (VGA)
- 1 USB 2.0 upstream port
- 4 USB 2.0 downstream ports
That section of the specification interests me, as I could use one of those monitors with my 12 year old antique system! :)

I try to be helpful when I can, but I'm afraid I can't help with that problem. ;D

It's gone up a lot in price since I bought it. I paid £199.99 last weekend. When I posted the message on Wednesday it was £219.99, and now it's £263.99.
