New Earthquake Shakes New Zealand's Capital

Quote
An earthquake has rattled New Zealand's capital Wellington - a week after another quake devastated the second city Christchurch.

The latest tremor, with a magnitude of 4.5, was less powerful than last Tuesday's one which measured 6.3.

The Wellington quake struck at 10.07pm (local time) but police say there have been no reports so far of damage.

It was centered about 12 miles north-west of the city and happened around 25 miles underground.

The Kiwis really are having a rough time right now.

Our two step grandsons and their dad have kept us up-to-date with things out there.  They live in the Christchurch suburb of Hoon Hay and haven't been affected too much, apart from no mains water or sewage.  The authorities seem to be well rehearsed though in setting up alternate facilities.  More on tonight's Skype call no doubt.
