Just had an interesting situation with Firefox browser. I am not sure how I picked it up, but my browser default search engine was redirecting to dodgy sites (thank you web-of-trust for saving me). Luckily, I found out how by looking at the Firefox about:config settings. If any of you have a similar problem, pm me and I can tell you where to look, rather than post here in an open forum.
