BT line test facilities
« on: September 09, 2010, 10:31:55 PM »

Gentlefolk,

I have today discovered on THCN that BT have "improved" their 17070 line test facilities by removing the ring back option 1 test.
We can at least still do an option 2 quiet line test but all other options only seem to be available to BT engineering staff.

Kind regards,
Walter

Ringback still works here.

Gentlefolk,

I might have perhaps realised the reason for no ring-back as the line in question has its number withheld, although the reason for so doing isn't obvious to me.

I will try using the longer test number for such lines upon my next visit.

Kind regards,
Walter

Is it always the same number for everyone?

08003289393

What is the longer test number?

The short number is 17070. I don't know what the long number is.

The number you quoted, 08003289393, is a generic BT number which is what you may see if you get a call from BT.
