Router powered via Belkin surge protector.
« on: August 16, 2010, 12:17:42 PM »

Probably a silly silly question :baby: :)

My router is powered via a surge protector and the DECT satellite unit from another mains socket ( one of a pair, the other out let going to the surge protector).

Does powering the router via the protector have any influence on performance?

If the surge protector also includes a mains filter, then it's possible that it would help the router to withstand mains-borne interference, but I haven't seen any real evidence of this happening in practice.

@ Renluop,

As an aside, the only blunder I've seen is someone connecting home plugs through a surge protector and then wondering why they didn't work !

Kind regards,
Walter

As  all the paper work has walked and it's 8+ yrs old,I wouldn't know of it had that refinement, that is unless there is some way to tell by looking.

I doubt there's any way to tell by looking (unless there's something printed on it which gives you the information). You might be able to find its spec on the web.
