You have to admire those local people for doing what they've done for their communities, but what a shame that they need to (which I guess is what you mean :) ).

Interesting links.

Rutland is fortunate that it managed to raise the £37K in order to start the ball rolling..  Unfortunately,  I cant see that many rural communities being able to come up with that amount of money.

Big hand to those guys for raising that money. Maybe we could all take a leaf out of there book and build our own SP in our own communities that are suffering the terrible connection speeds.

At least they have shown it can be done and maybe opened the flood gates.

I would love to see loads of small ISP's providing faster broadband than the major few we have now.

Would bring a lot more competition to the maket place.

he laid out the tory policies well there, different to what other sites have done.

the main mistake I see with the tory policies listed is that #3 the tv licence funding will be allocated to rural areas only, I presume because they have been very vocal about it.  There is various inner city areas that have poor broadband as well.  Just because there is more competition at the retail level it does not garuantuee a better infrastructure.
