[info] BT congestion update
We have the following briefing from BT :-

"We believe that some areas of the BT 21CN WMBC platform have shown some signs of congestion over the last few weeks. This has come to light due to the detailed monitoring carried out by AAISP using FireBrick FB6000 LNSs as well as monitoring of other ISP links by thinkbroadband.

Working in partnership with BT to resolve this issue has helped prioritise planned network upgrades to ensure a ongoing quality of service. The planned upgrades increase the potential capacity of relevant links tenfold.

The cause of these issues appears to be unexpectedly fast take up of the new BT 21CN broadband services.

The first upgrades are being planned to commence w/c 11th January at London Watling Street metro node followed by a second upgrade scheduled for 19th January at the Birmingham BRAS's. BT will be working through the remaining nodes to increase capacity over the coming months so as to avoid further congestion issues."

We are very pleased that BT has acknowledged the issue and is taking both short term and longer term steps to ensure that we can continue to provide the quality of service we have managed to for the last decade now that we are using their 21CN platform.

We are obviously somewhat disappointed that L-WAT does not have a definite date and we expect an update on Monday. In the mean time we are keeping over 350 faults open on this.

Now there's a surprise
Congestion, unexpectedly fast take-up!!

No doubt BT will provide the quality of service thus supplied. It won't be difficult will it?

Skeptic mood. >:D

Brains & forward thinking seems somewhat lacking in some buisiness`s...

If you bring out a New, Faster product then ISPs will want to offer that product to their Customers ASAP, they won`t want to be left behind other ISPs. No surprise.

People read about all the wonderful things that the new faster internet can do, so what do they do they use it for things like that, streaming U-Tube, BBC iplayer, IPTV & so on........... Gosh I`m surprised that folks take up & do this sort of thing........& the networks are getting congested....Blimey...Now theres a surpise....

No wonder my 4th quarter 2009 21CN change over never happened they have to go around upgrading those that already have it.
