Virgin Media/Googlemail
« on: April 15, 2009, 05:06:21 PM »

As one of the unfortunates who have Virgin Media (adsl) as an ISP, I am interested in this...:- http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/0,1000000085,39640300,00.htm

Does this mean that that I will lose my current POP3 mail delivery/receive system through Outlook Express and be forced onto an IMAP only system ?

There's nothing about this on the Virgin webbie... :(

They will be able to keep their existing @blueyonder.co.uk, @ntlworld.com or @virgin.net email addresses, or sign up for new @virginmedia.com email addresses.

Still a little confused here, or does it mean that in future I would need to go to the Google site to see VM emails?
Although I have to say, I will not miss the VM page as it's rubbish, No spam box or filters etc.

I already use Gmail through Outlook Express, as well as VM, both of which both use the POP3 delivery system.

Incoming mail (POP3) = pop.gmail.com ............... (NB: Unlike VM etc, there is no number 3 after pop)
Outgoing mail (SMTP) = smtp.gmail.com
