a little confused here, or does it mean that in future I would need to go to the Google site to see VM emails?
Although I have to say, I will not miss the VM page as it's rubbish, No spam box or filters etc.

I already use Gmail through Outlook Express, as well as VM, both of which both use the POP3 delivery system.
Incoming mail (POP3) = pop.gmail.com ............... (NB: Unlike VM etc, there is no number 3 after pop)
Outgoing mail (SMTP) = smtp.gmail.com
