speedtest.net new design(no date displayed)
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:04:01 PM »

Hi

Since the new layout of speedtest.net I do not see the date only time and the time zone ,when displaying "My results " . Has anyone else seen this problem ?. I have sent them a mail regarding the problem .

Regards Jeff

TBH I dont use speedtest.net much these days since it doesnt always seem to be able to cope with my speeds. :/

But I ran one and it seems to have the date/time in the top right for me

Yes, it's the same here. The date is in American format, but otherwise OK.

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply :)

2 problems !!no date and no decent throughput >:(

won't be for long .This month is my last with Tiscali  even if I have to pay. (I will be fighting against it )

This date problem is odd because the date is OK with the summary.,but its missing through the list of all my tests . Yet was OK last time I checked ? before this new page layout .

As I say I dont always trust the speedtest.net test - not on my own line anyhow.

A few tests Ive performed in this order.

Test file from fuller zen.
10.MB in 4sec
rate 2.5MB/Sec  (= 20Mbps)

Speedtest.net

Thinkbroadband.com
Speed Down 18468.89 Kbps ( 18 Mbps )
Speed Up 2257.43 Kbps ( 2.2 Mbps )

So since I can download in real-time inc overheads at around 20Mbps.. I go off that and the TBB speedtester.

Hi
Yes the list is also missing date ? I am still waiting for an answer from them .
meanwhile
I have just got my old PC connected and there is no problem with the results there . Must be something wrong with cookie that holds the data ?.

The odd thing is on the old machine I get the history for the past 3 days ,when it wasn't connected . But all the old history is missing ??  If the data is held in a cookie I don't understand how I can see the results for the days  when it was not connected  ???

Regards Jeff

HI

I decided to delete the cookies related to speedtest.net . Now seems to be ok on the display and on list of tests .Only one thing I can only see the test that I have done with this IP address 15 of them (same as my old machine ) . still don't understand that.

well thats sorted ,at least they are useful .Without a date they were of no use.

Just a thought are cookies limited in size ??

The cookie will have likely stored "you" using a unique id code in a string of letters & numbers.
That code would then be used to record and lookup your tests.
