Google
« on: April 17, 2007, 07:41:27 PM »

I see from the paper that Google have bought DoubleClick  :-X.  Google is now in my Restricted Sites Zone and all Google cookies are blocked.

Scroogle is so much better.  http://www.scroogle.org/scraper.html

Paranoid? Moi?

I hadn't seen that news item - but I share your antipathy for Double Click.  Thanks for putting in the link to scroogle.  This is new to me but looks interesting.

Google are looking more and more like Microsoft all the time. It's rather amusing to see MS objecting to this deal on the same grounds as they keep on getting accused of.

Ive noticed for a while now that sometimes when searching on google that clicking on links results in a "connection killed" message.

Its normally the top couple of links which are re-directed via doubleclick to valid companies, but my ad-blocker dont like.

I'm also playing with The Proximitron  8),  ad free browsing without using ad-blockers  ;D.  Seems to work well with no noticeable effect on speeds.

Ive been using proxomitron for what must be at least 5 years now.  I like it - its quite configurable...  you may have to adjust for sites like amazon though as it tends to pick up some of the amazon links on the site as ads.
