ACPI Multiprocessor gone mad :(
« on: March 07, 2009, 03:30:17 PM »

Hello all once again  ;D

After me playing about with my system some more I have hit a big sturdy brick wall  :( It seems I have managed to get rid of the ACPI Multiprocessor HAL that comes with XP and I am using the Standard PC drivers and this brings me to the question i've been trying to answer all week, how do i get ACPI back  :)

ThANks in aDVANce , Imagine  :)

Your hal.dll file has gone walkabout.

Do you have an XP installation disc from which to run  a repair ?

Not quite sure what you have been doing to cause this.

Assuming ACPI Uniprocessor was detected when you first installed XP, the you could try this.
Open Device Manager/ expand Computer and right click on what is shown which is probably
“ACPI Multiprocessor PC” and choose “Update Driver…“.
Select “No, not this time” option / “Install from a list or specific location” /  “Don’t search.  I will choose the driver to install.” / select “ACPI Uniprocessor PC.” from the list.

If you have been messing in the BIOS, ensure ACPI is enabled.
