Gosh, I hope so...............and that she has e-mail confirmation of the originally  advertised price.

I bet the site has realised an error because no doubt they would have been swamped out with orders at that original price.

About the company.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play.com

Looks like a very big error which wasn't proof read at the time and they are using the law regarding 'offer to sell' and offer to buy' as their getout.

Yeah theyre normally considered a reputable company.   I bought some USB Flash drives from there last week at a very good price that were promptly dealt with and shipped.

I guess they are going to use this get out clause from their T+C's

looks like I'm not the only one

Out of interest I googled "play.com cancelled order"..  and 2nd item was

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Law/Question661174.html

Further down I notice that the printer was also listed on hotdeals and Money Saving Experts.

Once the deal was posted on MSE I can imagine just what did happen.
'Some' of their users on there are just out to make a quick buck and money grabbers rather than a genuine sale...  and if the orders had been processed they would have just been resold on ebay.
I wouldnt be too surprised in the slightest if a vast swamping of orders for about a dozen at a time soon alerted play.com of the mistake.

One thing to bear in mind about play.com (as I discovered last week) is that they appear to have gone down the Amazon route of having third-party traders selling from their website. I ordered a micro SD card and a M2 card last week and although it appeared that I was ordering them both from Play, in fact I wasn't. The M2 card came 2 days after the SD card and has a "PlayTrade" receipt/invoice, not a Play invoice.

This is enough for me to stop using them as I won't use Amazon for the same reason (although Amazon are at least clear about third-party traders these days).

Caveat emptor as always :(
