If you want to take advantage of the Google Toolbar search results from the address bar whilst using OpenDNS, you will need to switch off OpenDNS Guide.

Now, although there is no default option for this, it is easily done, although it removes some other features such as Typo correction and Content filtering(although my settings still remained...)

You will need an OpenDNS account to do this, as well as the:-
OpenDNS updater application, if you have a Dynamic IP: http://www.opendns.com/support/article/90

First, go to the OpenDNS dashboard.

After that, you will need to click on the Settings tab.

Now, click Advanced settings on the left hand side.

Untick Typo Correction and OpenDNS Proxy...

...then click apply

After about 5minutes, type a search in the address bar or an incorrect URL, and you should either get a suggestion from Google, or simply, "This Page Cannot be Displayed".

P.s. Excuse my really badly drawn arrows!!

Thanks for doing the tutorial jid. Smiley

No probs, as I said, lots of people (like myself) use OpenDNS but prefer using Google Toolbar for example for Search results from the Address bar.

Enjoy Smiley

Yes I use the google toolbar and OpenDNS as my backup DNS.
Doesnt really affect me because its only my "backup", but could imagine it being very useful to someone who uses them as primary DNS.

Yes, thanks for the tutorial.  That is really useful for one who uses OpenDNS for all resolving.
