Overclocking ??
« on: August 28, 2008, 04:50:29 PM »

Hey all as some of you may know I have Purchased a new graphics card and already I'm playing with it and I was wandering would there be any adverse affects If i overclocked by say 100mhz or 125mhz for that matter ??

*EDIT* Is 51celcius a safe temprature for a GPU :)

I know nothing about overclocking I'm afraid. But 51 C is quite a safe temperature for a graphics chip. My modest GeForce 7100 runs at about 70 C (it doesn't have a fan) and the nVidia utility reports that the maximum is 100 C.

Don't everclock anything unless you know *exactly* what you are doing. The temp of the GPU may well be reading 51c, but this is not under any load or stress test. Unless you time the overclock the cards with the CLA timings of the RAM, you could wind up with a dead GPU.

Leave it alone. Trust me.

There's more discussion about over clocking at the Micro Mart forums:
