Computer and Accessories At Aldi from Sunday 3rd Aug.
« on: August 01, 2008, 02:41:03 PM »

Available at Aldi from Sunday Aug 3rd.

The spec seems pretty good, for £470.

I like their guarantee and support:
36 month manufacturer’s warranty. MEDION offer a telephone support hotline charged at National Rates and a return to manufacturer service for repair.

Also, 2 x 2GB Attache Flash Drives for £10.99

It is a good PC, it's the same one I brought from there a few months ago. (I think) just seems to be a different model number.

On my other PC (XP) it used to take me between 2-3 hours to convert a 90 minute .avi movie to DVD format, on this new one it only takes 20 minutes.

The TV out socket is actually a SCART socket, although it's "output only" but makes it easier for connecting to a TV.

The bad news (for me that is) is there is only space inside to install one other HDD.
Also some of the software is 30 day trial ware.

Oh yes, and apart from the odd occasion when creating a system restore point, it's so quite you forget it's even turned on.

Not looked into the specs properly aside from it appears to be the same processor and at least some other similar specs.
But the thing that struck me most is the old style case - same as my  4+ year old PC, rather than the newer style sleek shiney (and larger) case.

Oh yes, they seem to have gone back to the older style case with the slide down panel to access the front mounted USB sockets etc.

Although the overall size is probably very similar to their slightly earlier version.
This being the case, then my earlier comment with regards to the restrictions of extra internal HDD's is probably wrong.

I think I can find a better deal than that for $300 Acer but I'm gonna look for that link.

Oh $ = Pounds because XP forces me to use american keyboard settings  :'(

Well why not just change the keyboard settings in control panel, to English?
