New to VDSL2. Any Ideas Appreciated.
« on: April 09, 2018, 10:36:39 PM »

hi i have a very difficult & infuriating  problem , im new to ADSL2+ VDSL2. i left virgin cable due to inconsistency but persistent untruths latency on both counts  the usual stuff i am now with pulse8.  i must say i had set up difficulties leaning my way around unlocking HG612 3b had to buy another  HG612 3b  reset button went
so a lot of turning on & of  coupled with computer issues it wasent pretty. helped here KITZ with some really  sound help. now  the  HG612 is solid.
dsl2+ and according to Thinkbroadbands firebrick BQM my latency and line noise is a lot WORSE  than having a superhub 3 puma6 chipset can of beans.
i am from an audio training and backgroud   all my cabling arrangement  and hardware placment was  put in by myself  so i  dont think this is my household set up creating these readings   everything is   properly separated and thought out , all cables shelded & new .
( saying that these BQM stats looks mechanical if you know what i mean symmetrical like RF but i am new to network diagnostics  noise on BQM is  same times  i live in a 70s built flat concrete floors  my electrical circuit is ok new board.and brick walls doubt its neighbours  , i have run a transistor radio 700khz  over all areas no signals picked up that would be travling to modem or router .  my router is the new NIGHTHAWK NETGEAR XR500.
ive isolated modem own power source / all cables seperate/power /data
takelook at these

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/272110d743e6cc2990b97f9e29cb7078401e7eac-08-04-2018

now thats some rotten news , now i have managed to run parallels for mac and download the DSLstats  awesome thanks .but the figures dont tally im not showing the huge in latency vdsl2  line   a disparity   although i am only comprehending the basics on dslstats nothing looks to be corresponding with Thinkbroadbands BQM i also have pingman tools pingplotter   again   RTR to my isp is avg is small again all monitoring (live of connection is showing stable flat signal jitter is non existent which doesn't[/img] match with TB BQM
Also  why do i have max interleave down better than up  16/1  this prob due to on offing. anyone know why why i have G.inp  down and not up. SNR margin  is massive also suppose this could also be settling in setting ive read it can take weeks and sometimes is not reset at all .
i dont really undestand how Attn(dB):    19.4       0.0    up   0.0  hows that is it a shorter line back than to my property
i also have x2 copper pair in master socket i do not have extensions /  orange bluse connected and tested by bt enginier , there are two greens unterminated dangling in there is it worth putting a 700khz  resistor  across those ?
any help appreciated

[Moderator edited to strike out ADSL2+ and insert VDSL2.]

I'm one of the less bright ones here, but are you sure the thread title is correct? With the sync shown you must be on a fibre connection. ;D

Having come from Virgin you may be unaware that there is a significant difference between ADSL and VDSL. Your line is actually VDSL2 at 40/10, and you might want to edit your thread title and post to reflect that.

G.inp is usually applied only to the downstream, not to the upstream. It was applied to my US for a couple of days shortly after I migrated to VDSL, but hasn't been on there for a long time.
Interleaved of 16 is because G.inp is on, & that's why it is only on the DS.

The large SNR Margin is because your line is capable of more than the 40/10 you are contracted to. It's not a problem: my SNRM is at 31.4/22.6 for the same reason.

I suspect the Line Attenuation is only measured on the downstream. After all, downstream and upstream are on the same line! Mine is shown as 12.0/0.0, so it's nothing to worry about.

I would definitely NOT add anything to the extra wires in your master socket. BT/Openreach take a dim view (rightly so) of customers fiddling with Openreach equipment. There are a few BT guys that frequent these forums that can explain better than me.

As to the big changes in Latency on the TBB BQM, I'm afraid I cannot help at all.  :( Maybe someone much more knowledgeable than me will be along in due course.

Thankyou for your reply  I am not actualy  from a virgin  ,
that has cleared  up  most of the concerns I had thanks  . and yes the BQM difference DSLstats , pingplotter. in stats is mystery that I am looking into  and will need the help of some specialists here if they would .

Do those elevated periods on the BQM graph correspond with times you're using the Internet?

hi  no  unfortunately  not at all ,even so  my usage like most peoples on home service is nominal  unless i download a large update . just me in my flat    over the weeks or days one can see a pattern i forget the times but it all seems to be within a time frame .

Are you noticing any problems with your actual usage of the connection besides what the BQM looks like?

yes i have  my isp is pulse8   who use talk talk no shaping 40/10 so bringing this up with them , they ran tests & saying every things  fine .
i gave them the graphs of course there not interested so to speak
this is all wired not wifi (off)  they asked me to use there website speed test which logs the results over the easter bank hol   i was getting avg 12
down up was 7 ish  not bad up . but seems better now BW.

Those ping graphs look to me like at lot of traffic is passing over you connection, both mine look very similar when we're uploading a backup to the cloud, or streaming a movie etc. Could it be something on the router delaying the ping responses?

yes i agree   the router has its own live monitor inbuilt to software   mbps /  so i can see just from this the activity within my network LAN
a map of active and inactive devices options to prioritise traffick on these or block
i dont have these ticked
Respond to Ping on Internet Port
Disable IGMP Proxying

i  did  realise that the ps4 was doing one  or 2   ( the driving game and mac  osx another a few but not everyday  no .
if i look in BQM now it will be same  guaranteed . i will post live graph link .
i am getting a lot of DOS attack  here are a few  not that is causing my usage or noise grapphs

what ive noticed if you see over the month of April  if you  can access my live graph   the line signal goes to the roof from 2am  every single day with precise timing  lasting 4 to 8 hrs

From the log snippet that you have shown, there were four separate IPv4 addresses from which port scans were being run. Let's see if we can obtain some information from whence they originated --

yerrrs   havent run whois   on thos DOS yet, been  on other stuff , but wow those sneaky people . thanks for that sneaky lot arnt they .
i just had a emails saying i requested password change  in to my parallels desktop app account it changed my password  i DID NOT REQUEST THIS, i have sent them report .
it came from my ip though ?  from my os .as it recorded my request with ip/ osx version / and browser version.  also there password request was from there email  perhaps it was just a security measure . i accessed and changed password .

neatgear xr500  DOS attacks  i am sending  log to Netduma os admin .

my other posts regarding  TB BQM graphs  peaking like im using bandwith over vdsl 2  well, i was just downloading a large update on PS4 game  i monitored  this with pingplotter  across my isp server           https://share.pingplotter.com/MgFz3omVRMS
as you may see  very different to the Think broadband graph  stats. The second hop  with max pckt loss  would be a non response from router i presume .

t says it's in Panama (country PA), but it registered through RIPE. (RIPE is for Europe, not central or south america. The registrant for Panama should be LACNIC.) It also says it is registered to "Trump Tower".

Checking the abuse address (whois ACRO1670-RIPE) lists the address as "Panama TRUMP TOWER".

I'm assuming that the RIPE registration information is fake. In which case, it should be reported to RIPE so they can deallocate it. https://www.ripe.net/report-form The alternative is that it isn't fake -- in which case, why is Trump running a high-speed TOR node?
