F1 2018
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:03:16 AM »

Have been losing interest in this sport over the last 4 years just hoping this year will spark a new interest for me, but halos and silly regulations makes me think F1 is already dead.

What do you think ?

I haven't really followed it for (something like) thirteen years . . . so I guess there have been big changes in regulations over that time-frame.

While I appreciate the reasoning, the halo's look ridiculous and I can't see them lasting the following season.

I used to watch practically every race.

What's a halo? I think that illustrates how much my interest has declined.

New safety bar above drivers heads, I think designed to prevent head injury if the car rolls. pic attached below.

In this day and age I'd be amazed if they removed a safety feature for aesthetic reasons. They're probably here to stay.

The driver's names/positions on the left side of the picture are now in smaller type, & I have difficulty reading them in standard definition. :( Will have to try HD tomorrow and see if that improves things. :fingers:

If it's a roll bar I'm not sure why they have to have a pillar right in the centre of the driver's field of view - very, very, ugly design and not far away from an enclosed cockpit.

EDIT:

So the front pillar seems to be there to prevent frontal impact from debris, like a bouncing tyre - still very ugly.

EDIT 2:

After watching the Australian GP they're not as distracting as I expected.
