Any usenet people here?
« on: March 22, 2018, 05:08:22 PM »

I'm thinking of getting back in to the old usenet/newsgroup area but so much as changed since I was last around those parts.

I remember using a bootlegged version of Agent that I had to use a tunnel software so I could connect with multiple connections. NZB was still a new thing back then too.

So what are peoples recommended servers and clients?

Oh I didnt realise thunderbird could read newsgroups.

I like the older British comedies and radio shows from the 1940's onwards.

Last time I was on a usenet group I was downloading a 70MB file that took all day on freeservce dialup. Good job I could set my computer downloading while I went out lol

I use the Gnus (Emacs) client with the Eternal September and Gmane servers. I also only follow text groups.
