Just a thought, but I assume you haven't got VLAN enabled and set to 101 on both the modem and the router.
It only needs to be on one of them, usually the modem I believe, or it won't work (been there, done that!).

You assume correctly - active on the modem, disabled on the router.  :)

I'm trying not to fiddle with things atm as the connection drops when I do. And when the connection does drop, my IP changes too.  >:(  Do I need a static IP from my ISP to stop that happening or is there another way to stop it. Apart from buying things that work proper, like?

The VLAN and PTM endpoint should only be defined in the modem, not the router.

As for dynamic IPv4 addresses, that is what most CPs/ISPs provide for their broadband access services to the Internet. If you have a requirement for a static IP address, you will need to subscribe to a CP/ISP who provides such a service.
