Fastpath / G.Inp

Can someone explain to me the difference between the above?
I always understood (incorrectly it appears now) that it was always best to be on Fastpath on your line. It seems from reading on here that it is not the case!

Fastpath is basically minimal to no error correction (depending on reed solomon coding).
Interleaved, the traditional one (not G.INP), is basically constant error correction with overheads and additional latency depending on the INP and delay parameters. -

G.INP is like a combination of fastpath and interleaved. The error correction is only used when an error occurs and something needs to be retransmitted. This results in minimal to no additional latency as well as an increased attainable sync rate even compared to fastpath. -
