Just tried this Useful Program 'EtherApe' .
EtherApe is a packet sniffer/network traffic monitoring tool, developed for Unix.
You can get it free from http://etherape.sourceforge.net/  or you package manager.
The amount of connections it shows that are going on in the background.  :o
