Capped speed - Interleaving & delay finally gone
« on: November 20, 2017, 09:56:19 AM »

As documented elsewhere I had a troubled start to FTTC as I did a lot of messing about in the first few days, causing me to be banded & interleaved.
DLM gradually increased my speed to 31500 but I stayed interleaved.

I then decided to try the speed capping approach, I first capped at 28000, nothing happened for 10 days, so I went a bit more aggressive at 23000. This lasted 4 days until an accidental router power off yesterday, this obviously removed the cap, with interleaving still on.

Just checked this morning & DLM has finally removed interleaving & delay, I'm presuming it ignored the forced resync yesterday.

MDWS user is Gedpie if anyone wants to look at the journey, latest modem stats below..

Nice. Good to hear that this approach works, it's a pity that one has to do this though (apply a rather aggressive banding of their own) in order to encourage DLM to take positive action. I also did this on my DrayTek using the SNRM offset and DLM removed interleaving eventually. Looks like you're still banded though, but nothing much to worry about as the sync rate you would gain isn't a lot by the looks of it.

@hucknallred  Although your speed has increased I suspect your line is still banded because 32.4 Mbps is one of the banded profiles. Your SNRM is higher than the normal 6dB which tends to support my suspicions. Without the banding you could get a slightly higher sync speed.

So it is.. I'm not too bothered, I'm now higher than I thought was possible with my very long 1150m run to the Cabinet. Will keep an eye on it though, I was previously on the 30000 banding.
