NextGen award ceremony
« on: November 07, 2017, 09:50:16 AM »

Gentlefolk,

Some of you, particularly in the North West, might be interested in the following article:-

http://www.nextgenevents.co.uk/events/awards17

I popped up to Great George Street on behalf of B4RN and can be identified as the one brandishing a length of Emtelle's 7 mm blown fibre tube containing a 2f fibre.
I think it is safe to say that this is the first time a gas block has been used as suspenders to keep the tube inside my trouser leg all the way from Waterloo !

Kind regards,
Walter

Hi Walter,

Yes, certainly a positive ID, although not from your area it's good to be able to put a face to the name of a long standing and respected forum member, congratulations on your achievments.

@ Tiffy,

Thank you for those kind words.

B4RN have just changed their "Rural North" words to the UK as they now have a new node in Crawford (the big snake bends on the M74) on a dual-diverse route all the way from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London.
It's likely that B4SH (Surrey Hills) might appear before long to join:-

Kind regards,
Walter

@ Walter,

Thanks for the links Walter, very interesting.

We have been quite lucky in N.Ireland with FTTC rollout, especially my area, Derry/Londonderry where we did very well in 2013 with the City of Culture award, practically 100% FTTC, urban coverage achieved that year with the big cash injection.

Yes, there are still many issues in the rural areas, especially amongst the farming community, suppose this is to be expected with isolated locations and long phone lines.

Good luck with the projects, keep up the good work.
