Thanks as always shdf !

Just made a GUI upgrade to 4.6 and registered myself at ilpuntotecnicoesadsl.com to report some bugs.

I think at least the LED part should be changed for bridge mode to get a green info LED.
Dont know if ledfw.internet.check=1 means DSL or general IP/Internet connection but the voip check should defently be disabled in bridge mode.
It just doesn't make sense to check for voip in bridge mode...  ;)

I will try to change the configuration and let you know if it's working.
We can all help Ansuel to fix bugs and make some improvements...

Btw, I also tried the 1.0.4 xdsl driver and made an interesting discovery, the first 4-6 minutes after sync I get very low ping times (Like interleave depth 1!) but after that a change occurs.
The modem/driver still reports 8/4 but i can see it over the ping times. (4-5ms to the first hop, ~8ms after a few mins)
Same problem happened with my old modem (Vigor 130, Lantiq chipset) so i guess the Software/Driver Version of the (broadcom) Linecard is a bit buggy but it could also be the BRAS server, i'm not sure. Could also be the combination of xdsl driver and DSLAM/Linecard driver version.
It's very odd...  :-\

Best regards !

This device is useless to me, it may be great if your on VDSL (PPPoE) but as I am on ADSL (PPPoA) it will not "pass" DNS queries, OK for laptops and desktops, where I can set custom DNS entries,  not phones and tablets.

I also tried on ethernet WAN (PPPoE to my modem) that also gave DNS problems.

May have to wait for my fibre CAB.......maybe next year!!

@kitzuser, Sorry to hear that...
It's defently usefull and stable in bridge mode as it has a very good (VDSL) chipset. Should be also good @ADSL (@Annex A)...
Can't tell you anything about pppoa and DNS errors as im not using this device in router mode but i think it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I would try GUI 4.6 and if it still fails do a factory reset (downgrade to 1.0.3 if your allready higher!!) and unlock it again (start from scratch).
If it's still not working i would report it on the italian forum and Ansuel will probably fix it... ;)

Just done that and no luck;

Done that on the bug trace thread
https://www.ilpuntotecnicoeadsl.com/forum/index.php/topic,77878.msg225840.html#msg225840 Thanks @shdf

and https://www.ilpuntotecnicoeadsl.com/forum/index.php/topic,77878.msg226376.html#msg226376

As this device is powerful, I was hoping not to run in bridge mode, but use as a router to replace my Xyzel modem and RT66u and even run other add-ons (adblocker etc) ...I was hoping the QOS is good on this router as well.

you have something misconfigured, probably by a buggy GUI...
This device should work in VDSL and ADSL.

can you post here your /etc/config/network

Edit:
oups i didn't see your last post...let me check...

@kitzuser87430
option peerdns '1' is missing, this is why you don't get the dns from your ISP.
add it below option proto 'pppoa' in your wan interface. Do a /etc/init.d/network restart and disconnect/reconnect your PC, phones, etc... now you should have your ISP dns.

All available options for PPPOA are listed here : https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/network

If option peerdns '1' doesn't work then try adding list dns '<dns_ip>', 1 line per dns. Example :
   list dns '8.8.8.8'
   list dns '8.8.4.4'

You can also hardcode your DNS in your config interface 'lan' by adding the list dns lines, as above.

I've finally fixed the log entry "[mobiled] (WaitingForDevice) runs WaitingForDevice-Main.check" with
Code: [Select]
/etc/init.d/mobiled stop
/etc/init.d/mobiled disable

I've also chnaged the config@ /etc/config/mobiled to
Code: [Select]
config device_defaults 'device_defaults'
option radio_pref 'lte'
option enabled '0'

config platform 'platform'
option power_on '0'

Can someone please tell me where the technician folder is located normaly ?
@/home/ or in root ? I think i accidentally moved the folder and now i'm scared of a reboot...  :-[

@shdf, thanks... i've accidentally moved /etc to /home but that was easy to see.
I'm wondering if there is no file/folder move history feature in WinSCP ? Maybe im just blind...

@bilbokitz, Sure no problem, but keep in mind that my ISP requires vlan tag 835 (for pppoe) and my modem IP is: 192.168.254.254

Let's first start in normal router mode and without any config part...
First of all I've disabled everything that I do not need or use (Wifi, Mobile aso.) and then changed the default ip and did a Reboot, just in case.
After the restart I've activated bridge mode (modem will reboot) and set my VLAN tag under Broadband >> Internet Channel.
Don't forget that the LAN cable goes from any yellow ethernet port (not the red one!) into the WAN port of your main Router...

I think that you will probably don't need it but here is the important part of my /etc/config/network (the rest should be default):
Code: [Select]
config device 'wanptm0'
option type '8021q'
option name 'wanptm0'
option macaddr '10:13:31:xx:xx:xx'
option ifname 'ptm0'
option ipv6 '0'
option vid '835'

config config 'config'
option wan_mode 'bridge'

config interface 'lan'
option type 'bridge'
option proto 'static'
option netmask '255.255.255.0'
option ip6assign '64'
option force_link '0'
option ipv6 '0'
option pppoerelay '<set by script>'
option ipaddr '192.168.254.254'
list ifname 'eth0'
list ifname 'eth1'
list ifname 'eth2'
list ifname 'eth3'
list ifname 'eth5'
list ifname 'wanptm0'

It should work, if not go reset the DGA and do a clean reconfigure.
I started with fw 1.0.2 and GUI 3.25 and didn't had any problems to set up bridge mode.
Now i'm on fw 1.0.3 and GUI 4.6, but i would try fw 1.0.3 + gui 3.25 first and if its working you can always upgrade the GUI later on.

Let me know how it went and if you have any questions just ask...  ;)

Thanks. The config for non vlan bridgemode is broken basically and i dont think Ansuel has been able to see why. With his help i have got it partly working by editing the config file manually.

There are still issues with pppoe discovery however.

just one question, why using this modem in bridge mode ?
if you really want to keep using your second router for its more efficient wifi or what ever, then just connect it in one of the DGA4130 LAN port...and disable the wifi in the DGA...
I think this approach will make your life more easier  :)
