US ES suddenly gone mad
« on: September 03, 2017, 02:43:19 AM »

I usually get US ES in the order of 20 a day but tonight they are in the order of 200's so far and my DS SNRM is oscillating between 3.4 and 3.8. US SNRM is oscillating between 6 and 4.9db. My line seems to have gone into spasms tonight. The modem has only been up about 8 days or so, so I have decided to reboot the modem to see if I can calm things down a bit. Banger on MWDS, I think Kitz may have experienced something similar recently but can't find the post. I am also seeing SES on US which I have never seen before.

Ouch, that looks a right mess. If it continues I imagine DLM will be stepping in.Your SES are fairly consistent.
I think the past trick was to leave the modem off for some time but not just a quick reboot, thats what I use to do with my ECI cab but this was only with the oscillating snr, you have the rapid SES too..

Thanks for the advice Ned and as quickly as it turned up it has disappeared. I was seeing 2% packet loss on my ISPs ping plotter too. I was just about to swap the modem to rule that out and it cleared up.

DLM has enabled US G.INP for my line about a day after the initial burst of errors. Wonder how long that will stay on.

Sadly only 24 hours if the line remains stable.

Had a re-sync today which I believe was DLM at 11.34 but US G.INP is still active.

I have also seen G.INP remain active on my line on US and DS for over 6 weeks with a few resyncs.  Not sure if that helps or not  :P

I've never seen US G.INP applied to my line even though it has been an absolute saviour on my DS - I reckon it gains me at least 7Mbps.
However, saying that I still get more ES on the DS with G.INP than I get on the US without it (if that makes sense  ???).

Will have to wait and see it's still on and I am seeing zero DS and US ES with G.INP in both directions.
