It was either last Wednesday or Thursday the telephone made its electronic noise to indicate an incoming call. I answered that call in my normal way. There was total silence, a click, background "yibber-yabber" noises and a male Asian voice started the spiel . . .
MAV: "My name is Michael and I am calling you from the telephone management service."
Grump Cat: "Don't be silly, your name is not Michael and there is no such entity as 'the telephone management service'. Good bye."
Grump Cat: <More forcefully, stressing each syllable.> "I said 'Good bye'".
The was a click and the background noise ceased. On checking the spoof "last number called" it began with 001284 . . . For those who don't recognise it, the code for EABSE is 01284.
(I really ought to put together some sort of gubbins to send a 400 Hz tone, at +10 dBm, to the circuit when such calls are received.)
