Target SNR lowered + FTTP arriving soon
« on: August 20, 2017, 02:31:18 PM »

Downstream running at 11.8Mb now, 2.8km from cabinet, target SNR seems to have been lowered for some reason?

BT seem to have brought FTTP down my road & its on my pole, not in my house yet, how do they install it in my house? Any preparations I should take?

They don't install it to the property unless you order it.
It's only on new developments that they preinstall it on every property.
Keep watching for WBC FTTP on the DSL checker and order it when it becomes available. They will then install the last part from your pole to the property.

Ok, thanks, few questions:

is there installation cost? Do they have to put a box on the outside of the house? Do they remove the current copper cable? Need new phones? Is it priced the same as BT Infinity?

No installation cost for native FTTP.

Yes you'll get an external customer splice point mounted on the wall outside.

The copper remains in place and left untouched.

If you take FVA then the phone plugs into the ONTE.

Infinity 1 and 2 are the same price as FTTC.

Infinity 3 and 4 are, for the moment, FTTP only and are more epxensive. They'll likely be offered on G.fast when it's announced.

Infinity 2 is £45 per month which is a lot already, didn't realise FTTP would be even more expensive

It's the same price for Infinity 1 and 2.

Infinity 3 is 200/20(200/20) and Infinity 4 is 300/30 (330/30), which is why they're more expensive.
