Set SNR margin target on VDSL modem/router
Bestgear:
Hi
Do any VDSL modems/routers let you set a VDSL SNR margin target like some ADSL devices do?
I had always assumed the cab would take care of that... but having seen my SNR down at 4db and sync a fair bit higher (without error issues) its worth playing with if an accessible setting!
Thanks
David

No. The Openreach kit doesn't allow it.
Dray:
Openreach are rolling out variable SNRM targets down to 3dB.

I think the Asus DSL devices allow you to adjust the target SNRM, and even override lots of other parameters, but then the MediaTek VDSL2 modem chips that the use have a fairly poor reputation.
I don't know if anyone has tried adjusting the target SNRM on any Lantiq chipset devices, in theory there is a command to do it, but most Lantiq chipset devices don't provide such low-level telnet access.

Incorrect. It does work on the DSL-AC68U, the DrayTek Vigor 2860ac and I believe the Fritz!Box 7490 (both of which the Fritz and DrayTek mentioned should be Lantiq/Infineon chipset).
