Is it a Broadcom based modem? If so what's the current max attainable. If it's a Broadcom VDSL2 Chipset then the max attainable can pretty reliably tell us if it's a lower target margin or the results of a quick reboot.

I would guess it's a quicker resync than crosstalker. DLM usually drops the target margin in 1dB stages. I also wouldn't expect such a jump from a 4dB profile, though G.INP at the same time would also help.

Yeah it's a Billion 8800NL with a BCM chipset.

Max attainable is at 78300kbps so guessing it's just a quicker sync up than a crosstalker.

ES still under 100 for the past 26 hours.

What's the DLM ES threshold with G.INP apllied? Is it the same as without?

Hopefully puts me in good stead for a possible Target margin reduction in the near future to keep it at the max. Not that a drop of 30 or even 40meg would bother me. There's only 2 of us and way more than we need.

Throughput was down at under 40meg with the full sync despite the low error count.

Done a manual reboot of the router and it's now in sync at a touch under 76000kbps with throughput back up to the 69meg mark.

The SNR is at 5.1dB straight after the resync so possibly on a 5dB target margin?

Looks to me like a 5db target you could see 3db in a few days.

Weeee!

I'll see how it goes and post back. Zero HEC or ES in the 2 hours since resync

Only 4 ES in the last 24 hours. Seemed to be causes by an OR engineer poking around the DP earlierwith the tool used to find the oscillating tone they send down a line to locate the pair, as my neighbour but 1 must have been having their line connected.

SNR holding steady at 5.3dB.

Bang on 11am DLM forced a resync and it seems the circuit is now on a 4dB target margin (4.4dB snr right now) and the sync has increased from 75500ish to 77123 with an attainable of 78470kbps.

Will keep an eye on the ES, zero thus far, and if all goes well hopefully see DLM try 3dB in the coming days.

New crosstalker came online on Friday afternoon as the SNR margin dropped by 1 and the max attainable waa a couple of meg below the actual. Errored seconds remained less than 10 per day and a few minutes ago DLM dropped the connection and I'm now on a 3dB target margin.

As a result of said crosstalker the connection rate has came back up at 77211 with an SNR margin of 3.3dB.

I guess that's my whack. Fantastic connection given the estimates of 45-61mbps for a clean line although I do expect a little more crosstalk in the coming weeks as the cab is now totally full with some uses yet to be activated.

I have it on good authority that the cabinet will be getting a HD upgrade soon too due to demand so we'll see what sort of affect that has.

For now though, very happy :)

High Density. Extending the Fibre cabinet by adding larger line cards.

If the cabinet is only new why the heck would you need an extender is this the smaller Huawei MA5616T (128) cabinet ?

Basically it's a cab that serves half of a large (650+) newbuild estate.

The BDUK tender for the cabinet was done around 2 years ago, at which time, the cab served around 100 homes, so the BDUK paid for a H128 cabinet, as that at the time, would have been sufficient.

The cabinet today serves around 300 homes as they're still building. As a result, when the cab went live, the inital 64 ports went in under 24 hours. 2 susequent liine cards also were filled within 24 hours.

I did inform the BDUK team and Openreacch when I saw they installed the smaller cab back in February but it was too late to change it apparently.

The BDUK team have been in contact with OR since the cab went live and due to the demand Openreach have now planned a HD upgrade in the interim whilst they plan the addition of a second cabinet. Of course all could have been avoided if they'd changed for a H288 when they were made aware.

The reason it's been so popular is due to ADSL speeds being sub 2meg, again something Openreach were made aware of.

That clears it up, Property developers normally work in stages they have idea on how many homes they wanna build but due to money and bank loans they start stage 1 and when completed they hopefully will have planning permission for stage 2 and then back to the bank for another loan and onto stage 2.

It's just the way they work money is very tight with property developers you never know whats going to crop up next in that industry.

The planning for the full estate has been granted for around 9 years now. Certainly when Openreach were approached by the BDUK to upgrade the cab they had already been told by Bellway how many lines were required for the estate, however of course the BDUK funding is only available for postcodes and properties that exist at the time the tender is done.

It's just one of those situations but a bit more communication between Openreach and the BDUK could have made capacity a none issue but it is what it is.

Thankfully Openreach seem to be aware that a bit of a bollock has been dropped and they're pretty hot on increasing the capacity of the cab (probably driven by how quick the cab filled up).
