First one on the cab
« on: August 18, 2017, 09:44:59 AM »

Good morning.

My VDSL connection has just gone live this morning. I reckon I'm about 600m from the cabinet, estimated range of 45-61meg.

I'm the first port on the cab to go live. Attenuation reporting as 19.1. Current sync of 79998, with an attainable of 89999. SNR currently 9.3.

The cab only went live last Monday and so far 96 ports have been taken, so will be interesting to see how much crosstalk will have an affect over the coming weeks as subscribers come online.

I'll post up amy changes

Which modem do you have? I assume you're on a Huawei cabinet.

Using a billion 8800NL.

It's also a brand new house with new ducted wiring from the cab.

No doubt you'll take a hit with crosstalk, but that's a very good starting point, especially considering it's likely to be a Huawei so you'll get g.INP and the reduced noise margin targets.

Yeah it's not too bad. I've came from a 2meg ADSL connection, so anything over 10 is incredible  ;D

Yeah it's definitely a Huawei.

With the use of G.INP and a lower snr margin perhaps the 80meg can be maintained. I think I must have a decent line as it was stable on ADSL with a 2db snr.

Indeed I do but Engineer told me my line length is 400m to cab but still can't get that magic 80 although 79 is near enough. :)

What are your DSL checker estimations out of curiosity?

First 2 days got a lot of ES (approx 1600 per day).

Line has resynced 30 mins ago by DLM.

SNR dropped to 6, sync rate 78614 witha max attainable of 94500.

Interleaving depth 64 with INP DMT symbol of 3.0

Only 1 ES since the reboot.

Yeah my cab is now fully sold out, activations over the next couple of weeks so I fully expect quite a bit of a drop from crosstalk but really, I'm not bothered. Just find it interesting more than anything

Interleaving seems to be doing its job with the errors.

Only 20 ES in 11 hours

Line resynced, down at 71481kbps. Guessing more circuits activated today with many more to come in the following weeks!

Errors were quite low again until mid morning when the SNR started dropping, again I guess due to more new subscribers coming online.

Think I'll look onto getting a raspberry pi and running some dsl stats :)

60mbit at 600m distance on a full cabinet is a very good sync I reckon. I think you won the crosstalk lottery there :)

My circuit has been live for 10 days now.

Connection dropped down to around 61500kbps Tuesday last week and the errors remained low.

Came back from a weekend away to find the circuit had a resync yesterday at around noon, with G.INP now active on the downstream with an SNR margin of 3.7dB (unsure if using a 4dB margin or if a number of lines had a resync and mine connected first.

Sync back to the full 79999/20000 with less than 80 ES in 24 hours.

Not bad for being ~600m away with a 19.3dB attenuation!
