router connection
« on: July 25, 2017, 10:53:13 AM »

I have a second hand BTHub6 which I hoped might replace my aging netgear router.

However the router will not connect to my Broadband.  The set up sequence stops at point wher the router is working but it won't connect to the internet.

I have checked all the router settings but no obvious problems, but I am not an expert on these matters.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

BTHub6 aka smarthub will only connect to BT Internet. Are you with another provider?

Not sure about the Hub 6 but I've used the 5B on a Plusnet connection. Once you hit 'disconnect', you can enter a different set of PPPoE credentials and it will happily connect.

The Hub 6 will connect to some other ISP's, PlusNet for example, but if anything like the 5A, wont connect to EE as the username/password characters are too long/wrong format.

Don't know about other ISP's but other than username/password combinations, it should work with other ISP's, as above who are you with?

I would expect it to work with a TalkTalk service, as authentication is by the circuit ID and not by a "username"/"password" credentials pairing.

Thank you for all of your replies.

I am with plusnet and I have found details on plusnet web site on how to connect to BT hub.

Thanks again
