According to the seller this was a bought in item which was unused so "brand new in box" and not from an ISP. It did come with the default admin and password on power up of 1234. I upgraded the firmware to v11.c0 from the ZyXEL site pretty much straight away which was quick. Then quickly configured bridge mode, LAN IP for stats and turned off DHCP and it was in use after that.

Has anyone tried both a ZyXEL VMG8x24 and a ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A? How did the VMG1312-B10A perform compared to its big cousin?

I currently use an 8924 on my line and it syncs better than any other modem I've tried. The VMG1312-B10A looks like it lies down which is more suited to my environment. Is the VMG1312-B10A wall mountable?

I believe the 8x24 and the 1312-B10A use the same chipset so its possible they will sync at similar speeds.

The 1312-B10A does sit flat but also has a couple of keyholes underneath for wall mounting.

Nice result,  and your upstream stayed the same. When I was using mine my downstream was a lot better but the upstream quite a bit worse. As my upstream has steadily dropped over the years I switched back to the hg612  to regain some.

Interesting results and thank you for telling us which cab you are on.

I might try a similar thing if I can find a VMG1312 at a decent price.

Just for everybody's information...this appeared in the feed reader this morning: A&A change VDSL2 router from the B10A to the B10D.

A good result Banger and why I posted in your other thread saying the B10D was the budget chipset (63381) and you would have been disappointed with its performance.

Yes your advice and Kitz's is much appreciated N*star. Wonder if now that the B10A is discontinued there will be no more firmware development?

You know yourself Chry look at Nvidia and the different models they have bigger numbers don't always perform as well as the smaller numbers, A chip during the manufacturing stage can have a flaw and still works but with less cache or something it's then rebadged as a budget chip with SE or GT

They seem to be pretty good at maintaining firmware. Perhaps active development/new features may stop, but they will certainly fix any bugs that come up.

p.s. your signature is technically wrong, there's no such thing as LLU fibre  :P
LLU is local loop unbundling, where ISP's run their own hardware on the local loop (the copper part). For FTTC to be LLU would mean each ISP had their own fibre cabinet.

Having a look at the DS SNRM graph it looks very steady almost flat line with the VMG1312-B10A in place and something I noticed with the 8800NL R1 it has issues with the SNRM which I call small SNRM jitter by 0.1 dB

Very similar to the TP-Link which had quite a bit of variance of SNRM and lots of FEC/min in the region of 600-700 constant. The B10A FEC/min is spikes of 10-20/min. Overall a much better modem.
